Perfect with roast or barbecue chicken.   Winemaker release notes site, season & harvest Vineyards: Kokako, Ohiti Valley Yields: 35hl/ha Clone: 95 T The 2016/2017 growing season and the Kokako vineyard in the Ohiti Valley have produced an excellent, finely styled Chardonnay. Record summer heat and very low rainfall lead into a period of weather pressure and an early harvest. Low crop yields, good flavour concentration and a careful selection allowed us to harvest fruit in excellent condition on the 16th of March. Planted in 2008 the vineyard is situated on an old river bed, primarily made up of Omahu Gravel series soil topped with Twyford silt on what is a relatively uniform block. Naturally low vigour soils and the good airflow of this river bed site combined with shoot and bunch thinning and attention to detail in the vineyard allow the production of premium Chardonnay. winemaking Harvesting: Select harvesting Fermentation: Natural and inoculated Fermentation Vessel: French barrique; 40% new and 60% seasoned 1yr old Maturation: 10 months on lees in barrel with regular stirring.
