Tohu Chardonnay 2016

As the back label says 'untouched by oak this richly textured Marlborough Chardonnay" is a perfect description of the texture of this delicious wine. The texture comes from lees stirring and secondary malo fermentation that also delivers soft warm-bread-like background flavours that are overlaid with savoury stone fruit flavours. Creamy butterscotch characters add another layer of complexity. While this description may make the wine sound as if it is rich and heavy the firm but ripe acidity provides balance.
