Rapaura Springs – Rohe – Blind River Sauvignon Blanc 218
Opulent palate weight for a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, packed with tropical fruits (guava, passionfruit, pineapple) with some lime freshness. Refined acidity in the long finish but at 14% alc it is quite warm in the mouth.
Rapaura Springs have created a range of single vineyard wines and this comes from the "driest, coolest and most windswept sub-region in Marlborough".
This Sauvignon Blanc isn't your run-of-the-mill Marlborough Sauv, it is rich and complex; I don't know how this wine was made but I wouldn't be surprised if there is some barrel fermentation in the blend. Sulfide characters can be unpleasant if your palate is sensitive to them like I am, however this wine treads that fine line between complex and offensive sulfides with ease and falls on the delicious side of the line with the sulfides adding richness and complexity to the palate texture and the flavours.
