Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 2009
Full palate weight with great intensity and structure, silky tannins. Big alcohol characters tend to dominate the flavours but the intensity of the wine and richness of fruit aren't lost. An elegant yet rich dark chocolate character compliments the fruit while a twist of fresh acidity freshens up the very long finish.
The style very typical of the St Henri heritage and even though it is six years old at tasting it is a baby and will reward cellaring for another 10 to 12 years (best drinking in around 2025)
I bought this bottle from Moore Wilson Liquor in Wellington who have an excellent range of wines at very good prices.
