Neudorf Vineyards ‘Home Vineyard’ Pinot Noir 2000
From our cellar this 15 year old Pinot Noir was made from original Pinot Noir plantings on the Neudorf Vineyards home vineyard and sealed with a cork. It is worth noting the cork was in exceptional condition. Flavours are still bright with soft but definite acidity in the finish. Tannins have softened out totally. Initial sweet black cherry, cooked raspberry and softly charred oak characters evolve into delicious liquorice flavours in the long, juicy finish.
Some would argue that this wine is past its very best but it still has beautiful flavours and characters, the class of the wine shines and I will happily drink the remaining few bottles over the next 12 months, probably with lamb or duck.
