Moutere Hills Chenin Blanc 2016
This is one of the few examples of Chenin Blanc grown in the Nelson region. Based on the quality of this one I need to ask why others aren’t growing the variety too. This wine is simply beautiful with a full palate weight, a round texture in the mouth and delicious white peach and mandarin flavours with powdery, mineral-like acidity. A twist of white pepper spice in the finish just adds to the complexity of the wine.
Made from estate grown fruit and crafted by winemaker Patrick Stowe the wine spent 10 months in neutral oak, a move that has added richness to the texture without imparting oak flavours
