ColourDeep dusty black plum with soft brick colour around the rim
AromaIntense ripe black berry fruits aromas, particularly blackberries but with some boysenberry freshness. Lush toffee/vanilla notes add fullness to the berry fruit aromas while a touch of orange blossom adds floral notes. This is a wine with complex aromas. Hans Herzog also bottle age wines before release. The current release of this wine is the 2005 vintage and is available form the winery in either 750ml bottles or 1.5L Magnums.
Taste & Other Notes
Decadently rich and luscious black berry fruits balanced with leather and herbal spice characters. The alcohol heat in the finish is balaced rather than dominant and adds to the flavour complexities. Cigar box-like oak characters and firm but refined tannins enhance the overall taste experience. This wine will cellar very well for another ten years or more. A beautiful wine.
