Brightwater Vineyards Lord Rutherford Barrique Chardonnay 2015
Re-tasted 15th November 2017
My initial thoughts on this wine were reinforced when re-tasted. It is a powerful wine while remaining elegant, it is beautifully balanced with layers of flavour. The wine has opened up a little since the first tasting (had only been bottled a short time at first tasting) and will age beautifully for many years if you can keep your hands off it. I still rate this as a five star wine that is a lovely example of top Chardonnay from the Nelson region and delivers excellent value for money
Initially tasted 6th April 2017
Medium weighted, understated power in the palate weight, lovely spice characters, layers of flavour evolve on the palate, softly spiced nectarine flavours, minerality mid-palate, long, dry, juicy finish.
“This is an elegant wine with a huge amount of underlying power, richly textured with layers of flavour that enhance the palate texture. From soft creamy malo notes to crisp lime and spiced nectarine flavours with hints of toasted nuts and wonderful fresh acidity in the finish this is a complex chardonnay that delivers outstanding value for money.”
